COVID-19 Cleaning and Disinfection

Is Your Building Safe for Occupancy?

Current research has provided some insight into the persistence of COVID-19 on surfaces, which can last from hours to several days.  Newer data has also indicated that the virus can be aerosolized under certain conditions.  While agencies such as Health Canada, the World Health Organization (WHO), and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continue provide new information and guidance on COVID-19, there is a demand for high-level cleaning and disinfection protocols in buildings.

Premier has prepared a guideline entitled “Best Practices for Cleaning and Disinfection of Buildings to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19” in order to provide best practices for cleaning and disinfection of COVID-19 contamination in buildings.  The methodology employed in our guideline assists in the development of site-specific protocols which follow current industry best practices and apply recommendations from local, provincial and federal authorities.

During a typical project, the scope of work by Premier includes a Project-Specific Risk Assessment (PSRA), specifications, site monitoring, verification testing and reporting.  The outcome of these projects delivers measurable results which can provide peace of mind to building occupants.

Please note that cleaning verification testing conducted by Premier typically incudes a combination of the following:

  • Use of an Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) luminometer testing system to determine the real-time hygienic status of surfaces.
  • Collecting swab samples from surfaces for laboratory analysis of total bacteria.
  • Collecting swab samples from surfaces for laboratory analysis of the SARS-CoV-2 virus using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).
